Proviso East Boys Basketball
Maywood, IL- Today the Central Truck made its last stop of the tour by going over to Proviso East High School. Last year the Pirates had an amazing run, going 24-4 (9-0 in league), and making it deep into the playoffs before losing to their rival, Saint Joseph. This year, Coach David Chapman looks to lead the Pirates back to the same winning ways. Twenty members of the Proviso boys program came out tonight to see how they rated.

The highest rating of the day went to Jeffrey Glenn, who score was in the Elite category. Jeffrey, a 6’1” junior forward, ran the 20-Meter Dash in 2.91 seconds, had 68 Endurance Jumps (combine high), completed the fasted Agility Cone Drill we have seen (5.25 seconds!), and had the highest One-Step Vertical Jump of the night (33.2 inches) on his way to a SPARQ Rating of 75.48! Coming in second place only .02 points lower that Glenn was 6’1” senior guard Allen McGaha, who posted a rating of 75.46. Allen flew down the 20-Meter Dash in 2.84 seconds, had 60 Endurance Jumps, completed the Agility Drill in 5.59 seconds, jumped 32.4 inches during the One-Step Vertical Jump, and threw the power ball 47 feet!

The longest Over-the-Back Power Ball Throw of the night went to Bruce Johnson (61.14), who chucked the ball 54 feet down the track. Also, we’d like to give Jeffrey Glenn another shout-out for his amazing Agility Cone Drill performance (5.25 seconds). The Pirates scored a Team SPARQ Rating of 74.33, just below their rivals from St. Joe’s. With Proviso East proving they have some serious talent, the Pirate/ Charger match-up will definitely be a game to watch this year!
Good luck to both teams this upcoming season!

Unless I am mistaken, I believe that Proviso East is on the verge this season of going 50 consecutive years without a losing season (boys varsity basketball).
